Bladenboro Softball Defeats Clarkton Behind Kinlaw’s Strong Outing

Clarkton, NC - The Bladenboro Lady Bulldogs used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant pitching performance to secure a 14-1 road victory over the Clarkton Lady Blue Devils, improving their season record to 3-2.
From the opening pitch, Bladenboro’s offense came alive. Maycee Kinlaw led the charge with a stellar all-around game, scoring four runs, collecting two hits, drawing a walk, and driving in a run.
She wasn’t just effective at the plate—she also starred in the circle, tossing five dominant innings with 12 strikeouts, surrendering just three hits and no earned runs.
Caity McLaurin was a constant threat on the basepaths, scoring four times while adding a hit, two RBIs, and reaching base four times via walks. Kaylee Fisher chipped in with two runs and two hits, and Kristen Singletary delivered a strong showing with two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Adyson Carroll reached base with a hit and came around to score, while Hadley Dove added a run and a walk. Kylee Davenport and Hailii Andrews each contributed RBIs, while Carley Rhodes crossed the plate once and tallied a base hit.
Becca Arnold worked a walk to help extend the lineup, and teammates Riley Dowless and Elizabeth Faircloth provided key depth throughout the game.
Bladenboro’s defense also backed up Kinlaw’s outing, staying sharp throughout the contest to help preserve the lead. Bladenboro will travel to West Columbus on Monday.
Despite the final score, the Clarkton Lady Blue Devils showed heart and hustle throughout.

The Lady Devils opened the game with Kynzlee Wood on the mound. Wood delivered a concerted effort, along with her defense, to slow the Lady Bulldogs offense. With Kynslie Kinlaw as her catcher, she delivered 5 strike-outs to try and slow the pursuit of runs by the Lady Bulldogs. Kynzlee was joined in the infield by Isabel Gardner, Zariah Dill, Ronnae Mclean, and Laney Roberson who supported her endeavor to stop the Lady Bulldogs.
The outfield joined the effort by fielding or catching several hits delivered by the Bladenboro hitters. Camryn Wood, Shenandoah Fowler, and Aliah Jacobs held down the outfield during most of the outing. 7th grader Khloey Smith replaced Jacobs in the 4th inning and delivered two catches to obtain 2 outs in the 5th inning to end the game.
Camryn Wood led the Lady Devils offense with two hits. Her hit in the first inning scored Clarkton’s Ronnae McLean that was walked by the Bulldogs in the first inning. Zariah Dill added one hit in the first inning but was left on base due to a strikeout. The Lady Devils struggled offensively but look to improve in their outing against Tabor City at home on Monday.
With both teams featuring young talent and competitive spirit, Bladen County softball fans can expect more exciting matchups as the season progresses.
