Senior Tylik McCall pumped in a game-high 17 points, and West Bladen’s smothering defense carried the Knights to a 66-30 non-conference boys basketball victory over East Columbus Tuesday night.  The Knights improved to 3-1 and will travel to Kill Devil Hills Thursday for a 4 p.m. game against Currituck in the Good Guys vs Cancer Showcase at First Flight High School. 

West Bladen seniors Kali Allen and Natalee Sykes combined for 29 points Tuesday night as the Lady Knights shocked East Columbus early before the Lady Gators rallied for a 59-39 non-conference girls’ basketball victory.  West Bladen, now 1-3, will visit East Bladen Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Hadley Dove poured in 16 points Tuesday to lead unbeaten West Bladen to a 29-27 non-conference JV girls’ basketball victory over East Columbus Tuesday.  The Lady Knights, now 3-0, will travel to East Bladen Tuesday. 

Isaiah Minus and Shyron Thompson combined for 23 points Tuesday night to lead West Bladen to a 45-31 non-conference JV boys basketball victory over East Columbus.  The Knights improved to 2-1 and will travel to East Bladen Tuesday night. 

In a rematch of their season opener, the East Bladen Lady Eagles showed they’re getting better with each game. East Bladen held North Brunswick to just 28 points Tuesday night, improving to 4-0 on the season with a 41-28 victory at home.

The East Bladen Lady Eagles are proving that rebuilding doesn't mean you can't win right now. After opening the season with a comeback victory over North Brunswick, the Lady Eagles kept rolling at home this week with a dominant 63-16 win over Pender on Monday and a grittier 44-37 victory over Heide Trask on Tuesday night.

The Emereau Lady Aviators dropped their second game of the young season Monday night, falling 33-19 to Midway Middle in Sampson County. The loss evens Emereau’s record at 1-1 as they continue to grow and learn early in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Emereau boys basketball team showed exactly what Coach Dom Whittington was talking about after their tough loss last week. After falling to Sampson Middle 32-9 in their previous outing, the team came out Monday night and delivered their best performance of the young season, defeating Midway Middle 35-22 to even their record at 1-1.

Ten different West Bladen players scored as the Knights rolled to a 58-23 non-conference JV boys basketball victory over West Columbus Friday night in their season opener.  Jace Lesane buried a pair of 3-point shots and finished with 10 points to lead the Knights’ attack.

Kynzlee Wood and Serenity Council sparked West Bladen to an early 11-1 lead and the Lady Knights cruised to a 27-4 non-conference jayvee girls’ basketball victory Friday over West Columbus.  The Lady Knights improved to 2-0 with the victory and will host East Columbus on Dec. 2nd.

West Bladen’s Knights forced 31 turnovers and held West Columbus to only 27 points enroute to a 66-27 non-conference boys basketball victory over the Vikings Friday night.  Coach Travis Pait’s Knights improved to 2-0 and will travel to Class 8A opponent Wilmington Hoggard Tuesday night. 

Senior Kali Allen tossed in a game-high 11 points, and senior Tah’lela Bethea grabbed 15 rebounds as West Bladen survived a good deal of adversity Friday night to claim a 34-23 non-conference girls basketball victory over West Columbus. The Lady Knights were missing 2 regulars before the game started – one due to an injury suffered in an automobile accident on the way to the game.

The East Bladen Lady Eagles showed exactly what Coach Patty Evers has been preaching all preseason: resilience. Down five at halftime and without one of their senior leaders, the Lady Eagles clawed their way back in the second half to defeat North Brunswick 51-40 Tuesday night in their season opener.

Centavia McKoy and Zadariyah Faison combined for 44 points Thursday night to lead Union to a 57-37 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over West Bladen. McKoy, a 5-6 junior, poured in 26 points and connected on four 3-point shots. Faison, a senior, threw in a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 18 points. Teammate Makayla Hall netted 8 points. 

Malia Graham poured in 27 points Tuesday night to lead East Columbus to a season-opening 53-14 non-conference girls basketball victory over West Bladen.  Graham pumped in 12 points in the opening period as the Lady Gators raced to a 16-0 lead. The 6-foot senior netted a trio of buckets in the 2nd quarter as the lead grew to 27-9.
