ELIZABETHTOWN, NC — The Emereau boys basketball team faced a tough test Monday night, dropping a 32-9 contest to Sampson Middle School.

Sampson Middle jumped out to an early 13-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The visitors extended their advantage to 28-3 by halftime and cruised to the victory from there.

Despite the challenging night, several Emereau players found the scoring column. Jayden Bordeaux led the team with 3 points, while Noah Ray, Cayden Smith, and Grayson Leggett each chipped in 2 points.

J. Henry paced Sampson Middle with 16 points, while H. Bass added 6 in the winning effort.

Head coach Dom Whittington kept a positive perspective after the game.

“Tough loss tonight, but I told the boys to keep their heads up,” Whittington said. “We learn from games like this, fix the mistakes, and come back stronger. I believe in each of these boys.”

The team roster includes Eli DiCicco, Noah Ray, Jayden Bordeaux, Colt Lewis, Cayden Smith, Grayson Leggett, Ryker Britt, Mason Sasser, Cooper Patrick, Tony Robinson, Ryker Dowless, and Saeed McElveen. Luke Avant and Mark McMichael serve as team managers.

Dom Whittington coaches alongside assistants Tyler Hester and Quan Jones.
