ELIZABETHTOWN, NC — East Bladen’s offense exploded Friday night, piling up its highest point total of the season in a 54–28 victory over West Columbus.
The win pushes the Eagles to 4-1, marking their best start since the 2018–2019 season.
The night belonged once again to East Bladen’s thunder-and-lightning backfield duo. Jaden Lewis and Dashon Campbell proved why they’re one of the most dangerous one-two punches in the region.
Lewis, known for his burst and quick cuts, carved through the Viking defense for 175 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Campbell, the bruising counterpunch, bulldozed his way to 173 yards and three scores on 16 carries, dragging defenders with him nearly every time he touched the ball.
Altogether, the Eagles rushed for 388 yards on 42 carries and five touchdowns, leaning on the ground game to stay in control even as West Columbus battled back.
Quarterback Keyshaun Kemp added 24 rushing yards to go along with a short completion to Khalil McKoy.
The game began with a flurry, East Bladen racing out to a 16–6 lead in the first quarter and stretching it to 32–6 at halftime.
West Columbus mounted a third-quarter push, cutting the deficit to 40–28, but the Eagles responded in the fourth with two more scores to put the game away.
Through five games, Lewis has totaled 603 rushing yards on 73 carries with eight touchdowns, while Campbell sits at 540 yards on 81 carries and six scores.
Together, they’ve given the Eagles a rushing attack that few defenses have been able to slow.
Head coach Robby Priest said the team will savor the win, but their focus quickly shifts to the next challenge.
“Celebrating the win for sure,” Priest said. “Gonna enjoy it for a day or two and get ready for Hobbton next week.”
That matchup with Hobbton will test the Eagles’ momentum.
The Wildcats started the season 0-3 but have rattled off back-to-back wins over Rosewood and East Columbus.
East Bladen, however, will enter the contest with confidence, riding a powerful rushing attack and their strongest start in nearly seven years.
