Elizabethtown, NC - Kewone Maynor has always let his game speak for itself. A quiet leader with a relentless motor, the East Bladen standout made it official recently, signing to continue his football and track career at Methodist University.
Maynor’s path to the next level is a story of growth, perseverance, and a steady commitment to getting better. As a sophomore, he began building his foundation under center, throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
His junior season saw a major leap—935 passing yards, 10 touchdowns through the air, and 201 rushing yards with two more scores on the ground.
By senior year, Maynor’s role had evolved, and so had his impact. With 559 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 152 passing yards and three scores, he led East Bladen with his feet as much as his arm. He also played a vital role on defense, notching 16 solo tackles, 15 assists, and an interception—showcasing his ability to affect the game on both sides of the ball.

“I’ll be attending Methodist University to play football and run track, playing both running back and cornerback,” Maynor shared. “The coaching staff expects me to come in ready to compete and contribute wherever I can. I’m excited for the challenge and the opportunity to grow as both a player and a person.”
That mindset—versatile, humble, and hungry—has been a trademark of Maynor’s throughout his career. Now, he’s setting his sights on making an immediate impact at the college level.
“My goal for freshman year is to adjust quickly to the college level, earn playing time, and make an impact on the field and in the locker room. I want to set a strong foundation for the rest of my college career,” he said.
Maynor also had a message for younger athletes watching his journey: “Stay focused, stay humble, and outwork everyone. Your journey is your own, so trust the process and keep pushing, even when things get tough.”
True to form, he ended with a quiet but powerful motto: “Silence louder than words, listen close if you hear me.”
And for Maynor, faith remains at the center of it all. He leans on the words of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
As he takes the next step at Methodist, Kewone Maynor leaves East Bladen with more than just a stat sheet—he leaves a legacy built on effort, character, and belief.
