Huntsville, AL - From Elizabethtown to the NCAA Division I stage, Zamar Lewis’s journey is a testament to growth, grit, and faith.

The former three-sport All-Conference athlete from East Bladen High School has officially committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Alabama A&M University.

The announcement came via his personal social media, where Lewis expressed his gratitude to God, family, coaches, and the A&M staff for believing in him. “The real work starts now,” he wrote. “GO DAWGS!”

Lewis, now a sophomore at Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC), turned in a breakout 2025 season that showcased both power and discipline at the plate.

Over 55 games in the NJCAA Division II campaign, he hit .318 with a .434 on-base percentage and slugged .602. His season totals included 56 hits, 46 runs scored, 11 doubles, 13 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 29 walks. He also added 29 stolen bases.

But those stats only tell part of the story.

This season marked a major step forward for Lewis, who has battled through adversity to become the player—and person—he is today. As someone who taught him in Bladen County Released Time classes years ago, I remember when Zamar first gave his life to Jesus as a middle schooler.

That moment shaped the foundation of who he is. His faith remains strong, and it’s been evident in how he’s handled life’s challenges and stayed focused on his goals.

His contributions helped lead FTCC to their first-ever conference tournament appearance, and his performance established him as a reliable, dangerous bat in the lineup—capable of hitting for both power and contact, and I've seen him showcase small ball excellence as well.

He broke the FTCC school record of home runs and RBIs.

Now, he takes the next step with Alabama A&M, where his skillset will be a welcome addition to the Bulldogs’ lineup.

With his work ethic, character, and talent, Zamar Lewis has all the tools to make an impact at the next level.

I'm still building connections within the county. I'm glad to cover other athletes from Bladen County that are in college or professional sports. Reach out to me via the the contact info below with any info you have.
