Bladenboro, NC - On a night filled with emotion and appreciation, the West Bladen Lady Knights honored their seniors and delivered a thrilling 4-3 win over Red Springs in Southeastern Athletic Conference action.
The win improved West Bladen’s overall record to 9-7 and their conference mark to 6-3, setting the stage for a rematch at Red Springs on Friday.
Before the first pitch, the Lady Knights recognized six seniors—Laci Buffkin, Marlie Walters, Marlene Crabtree, Kallie Bass, Holland Davis, and Lauren Douglas—who have all played key roles in shaping the program’s identity and culture. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental throughout the season.
In the circle, Marlene Crabtree turned in a composed and gritty performance. Pitching all seven innings, she limited Red Springs to just three hits and one earned run. Crabtree walked only one batter and struck out three, bringing her season total to 23 strikeouts. She also made her presence felt at the plate, reaching base twice with a single and a walk, and scoring one of West Bladen’s four runs.
Brenna Hester came through in the clutch with a double that drove in two key runs, providing the offensive spark the Lady Knights needed. Her bat has been timely all season, and Thursday night was no exception.
Holland Davis made the most of her plate appearance, drawing a walk and crossing the plate for a run while also collecting an RBI. Her steady contributions continue to give the Knights consistency on both sides of the ball.
Kali Allen added to the scoring tally with a single and a run scored, while Addison Wilcox also touched home plate to help edge the Knights ahead. Though Laci Buffkin didn’t record a hit, her patience at the plate earned her a walk, contributing to the team’s offensive pressure.
Though they didn’t land hits this time around, Marlie Walters, Kallie Bass, Lauren Douglas, Diyarı McKoy, and Bristol Allen each had opportunities at the plate, staying active and engaged in the tight contest.
West Bladen’s lineup showed its depth, with every player playing a part in a well-rounded, emotional win.
Now, with momentum on their side, the Lady Knights look to finish the regular season strong as they travel to Red Springs for Friday’s rematch.
