East Bladen Lady Eagles Volleyball Splits Matches with Trask

ROCKY POINT, NC — East Bladen’s volleyball teams hit the court against Trask on Thursday, with the junior varsity squad pulling out a strong win while the varsity team came up just short in a competitive match.
The JV Lady Eagles continued their hot start, improving to 2-0 on the season after sweeping Trask in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-21.
The team played with energy and balance, with different players stepping up throughout the match.
Bella Beard made her presence felt with 4 kills, 1 ace, and 3 digs, while Gracey Edwards contributed 3 kills and 2 aces. Tenley Dowless added 2 aces, a kill, and a dig, while Maylin McMichael tallied 2 kills.
Harlie Shaw chipped in with a kill, and Chloe Merritt put down an ace to help the Eagles secure momentum. Addie Douglas stood out on defense with 6 digs to go along with 3 aces, while Avianna Whittington hustled for a dig and an attempt at the net.
In varsity action, East Bladen fell 3-0 in a hard-fought match. Trask took the sets 25-20, 25-20, and 25-17, but the Lady Eagles showed resilience, battling point for point in the early stretches of each set.
Taylor Dowless led the attack with 6 kills, 10 attempts, and 2 solo blocks. Marlee Potter provided 2 aces and 2 kills, while Cabria Baldwin added an ace and a block at the net.
Aubrei Nixon contributed 2 kills and 2 solo blocks, giving East Bladen another strong presence up front. Mileigh Martin (2 aces), Tatum Allen (1 ace), and Nadya Colon (1 ace) gave steady contributions at the service line.
Ariel Cromartie also provided valuable play as the Eagles looked to keep rallies alive.
The Lady Eagles will pick back up with another non conference challenge on Monday traveling to Clinton.
