Elizabethtown, NC - East Bladen Softball capped off a dominant week with a 10-0 shutout of West Columbus on Thursday, following up Tuesday’s 10-1 victory to complete the season sweep.

With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 6-5 overall and 5-4 in Waccamaw Conference play, extending their winning streak to five games as they continue climbing the RPI rankings ahead of playoff seeding.

East Bladen wasted little time getting on the board, plating a run in the bottom of the first and continuing to apply pressure throughout the game. The offense delivered a balanced attack, scoring in every inning and breaking things open with a five-run fourth frame.

Leading the way at the plate was catcher Martha Simmons, who reached base three times and scored twice, collecting two hits and a walk on the evening.

Tatum Allen was a sparkplug from the top of the order, scoring twice, driving in a run, and showing patience with two walks. Taylor Dowless continued her strong season with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Mollie Tolar added a run-scoring single and walked twice, crossing the plate twice herself.

Jenna Brice stayed hot at the plate and in the circle. She added a hit and an RBI at the plate, but her work on the mound was even more impressive.

The right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out nine batters while allowing no earned runs and just one walk in five innings of work.

Gracie Edwards chipped in with a run-scoring hit and scored twice, and Gabriella Bray delivered a clutch single that drove in two runs. Niyah Wooten added an RBI, while Gracie Clark helped maintain strong defensive pressure throughout the contest.

East Bladen’s consistent play down the stretch has them poised for a strong postseason push. While East Columbus (8-0) sits atop the Waccamaw Conference standings and is nearing a lock on the top 1A seed, the Lady Eagles’ surge gives them a chance to secure a favorable seed in the 1A East bracket.

With five straight wins under their belt, East Bladen is peaking at just the right time.
