Bladenboro, NC - The Elizabethtown Middle School softball team delivered another heart-stopping performance on Wednesday night, pulling out an 11-10 victory over West Columbus in a tightly contested matchup on the road.

After celebrating their eighth graders earlier in the week—Calleigh Smith, Avianna Whittington, and Legacy McNeil—the team took the field with determination and a sense of unity that showed throughout the night.

Chanel High continued her streak of clutch performances, scoring three crucial runs that helped fuel the Elizabethtown offense. Whether it was applying pressure on the base paths or setting the table at the top of the lineup, High’s energy gave her teammates a spark every inning.

Racquel Whittington followed her lead, crossing the plate twice and providing solid production in the heart of the lineup. Jeniyah Whittington was locked in at the plate, collecting three hits in what became one of the most consistent offensive showings of the game.

Eighth grader Avianna Whittington played with poise and purpose, scoring twice and helping her team maintain momentum during the back-and-forth battle. Fellow eighth grader Calleigh Smith added a hit and scored a key run, showcasing her ability to deliver in big moments. Madison McLaurin matched that energy, adding both a hit and a run to the Elizabethtown cause.

Ny’Ashia Lyles contributed a run, continuing to find ways to get involved and push the team forward. Franasia Mitchell chipped in as well with a run scored and a hit, adding depth to a lineup that refused to back down in a one-run game.

Jazlyn McKinley-Gibbons stepped into the box for three determined at-bats, working counts and making West Columbus fight for every out. Legacy McNeil, also one of the honored eighth graders, was a steady presence on and off the field, contributing with her leadership and effort as the team closed out a hard-earned win.
