Elizabethtown Middle Soccer Splits with Central

BLADENBORO, NC — The Elizabethtown Middle School soccer teams took on Central in a pair of matchups that saw both sides experience highs and lows on the field.
Girls Soccer
Central came away with an 8–1 win over Elizabethtown in the girls’ match.
Britney Scarlett found the back of the net for the Lady Cougars, giving Elizabethtown something to build on as they continue through the season.
Boys Soccer
The boys’ matchup proved to be much tighter.
After a 1–1 tie through regulation, Elizabethtown pulled out a thrilling 5–3 win in penalty kicks.
Alejandro Gonzalez scored in the first half to give Elizabethtown a 1–0 lead before Central equalized in the second half to send the game to PKs.
The Cougars stayed composed at the spot, with Gonzalez, Hammoud Algozy, David Sanchez, and Edgar Sanchez each converting their kicks to seal the victory.
It was a gutsy team win for Elizabethtown, showing resilience and poise in a pressure-filled finish.
